Traditionally, Mikvahs have been used for conversions to Judaism, commemorating an upcoming wedding, by women observing Jewish family purity laws, and by men/and or women before Shabbat, holidays, or special transitions or occasions.
The Mikvah waters represent purity, transformation and elevation. As a clean and modern bathing facility, it is connected to two pools of pure, natural rainwater - representative of a connection to something higher than ourselves.

The C-U Community Mikvah Mei Leah is a 501(c)3 organization operated by a team of Jewish organizations including (in alphabetical order) the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation (CUJF), Illini Chabad Center for Jewish Life, Illini Hillel, Jewish Education Team (JET), Mikvah USA, and community members for the benefit of our community and its visitors.
The Mikvah is under supervision of the Chicago Rabbinical Council.
The Mikvah opened in May 4, 2014 and has been serving the community every since.
